How it works

Partner with us to empower educators and transform lives in Peru.

Our exciting partnership with the Peruvian Ministry of Education presents a unique opportunity for you to make a lasting impact on the nation's education system.

By enhancing the English language and teaching skills of local teachers, you'll be building capacity and generating benefits for generations to come.

Your journey begins in the captivating city of Cusco, the ancient Inca capital and a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Here, you'll undergo a comprehensive training program designed to equip you with the knowledge and tools necessary to deliver impactful teacher training sessions.

Key aspects of your role will include:

  1. Comprehensive training: Participate in a week-long training program (6 to 12 January 2025) to prepare you for your teaching role. You must join  the training for at least three days, but we recommend you attend for the full week.
  2. Empower local teachers: Spend two to four weeks delivering engaging and effective teacher training sessions.
  3. Flexible schedule: Teach at a local school Monday-Thursday mornings (8:30 am to 12:30 pm) and prepare lessons in the office three afternoons per week (3 pm to 5 pm).
  4. Celebrate success: Attend the Closing Ceremony to witness the impact of your work and share in the joy of the teachers' accomplishments.

We will provide comfortable accommodation and meals near the training centre to ensure your stay in Cusco is both productive and enjoyable.

While not mandatory, we encourage you to bring supplementary teaching materials, such as English texts, to enrich your sessions.

This is a remarkable opportunity to broaden your horizons, develop your skills, and contribute to a brighter future for the children of Peru.

If you are passionate about education and eager to make a tangible difference in the world, we invite you to join us on this transformative journey.

It's a very good feeling to give back a little. I feel gratitude when people tell me my work was really helpful.

I also got to know another country. I've never been to Peru before. I've never lived at an altitude of 3500 metres!

When I teach overseas, I find that people are engaged and not distracted. They give 110% every lesson.

Why join teacher training in Peru?

The demand for teacher training in Peru is higher than ever, making your contribution as a passionate volunteer even more important. This is only the second training opportunity since 2019, and we need your help to make it a success.

You don't need prior teaching experience to participate – a willingness to engage in the training week is all that's required. You'll collaborate with local staff and fellow volunteers to create fun and effective lessons that empower local teachers.

This short but intensive program offers a fast track to gaining valuable experience, making it ideal for those starting a career in education or seeking to advance their existing teaching skills. It's also perfect for teachers with decades of experience, who can bring their wealth of knowledge to benefit educators in Peru.

While Spanish language skills can be helpful, they are not a requirement. We recommend familiarising yourself with a few basic phrases, but our local staff will be on hand to bridge any language barriers. We will match you with teachers based on your language abilities and teaching experience, ensuring everyone is able to contribute meaningfully.

If you're looking for a rewarding adventure that will make a real difference in the lives of others — this is an opportunity not to be missed.
