Botswana, home to over a third of the world's elephant population, is also one of the world's least densely populated countries.
This combination of abundant wildlife and few people creates a pristine wilderness, supporting abundant wildlife, including the other four iconic species that - together with elephants - are known as Africa's 'Big Five'.
To experience this natural beauty yourself and contribute to ongoing conservation efforts, consider joining a Wildlife Conservation Project in Botswana with Projects Abroad this summer.

Your experience will be based in a reserve within the Tuli Block, located in south-eastern Botswana near the Limpopo River and touching the borders of Zimbabwe and South Africa
In recent years, the region has seen a shift from agriculture to tourism, driven by its greater profitability and positive impact on the environment. This area is renowned for its exceptional natural beauty and thriving wildlife.
Access to much of the Tuli Block is now through private providers, like Projects Abroad, with general tourism largely confined to the main road running through the Block.
At our reserve inside the Block, you'll join other participants who share your passion for conservation and wildlife.
Together, you'll contribute to ongoing efforts to monitor and protect the local ecosystem and experience a unique opportunity to live in a remote setting.
While connectivity is limited, which allows for a greater focus on what's in front of you, you'll remain partially connected.
The immersive nature of the camp encourages a subtle shift from digital distractions to living in the moment and connecting with your new friends from around the world.
