The region has mammals like foxes, wild boar, beavers, and hedgehogs, with wolves and mountain goats in the Cévennes mountain range. There is also an impressive 360+ bird species and 15+ reptiles.

Our immersive two-week program offers a unique opportunity to contribute to vital environmental protection efforts. You'll participate in real data collection used by authorities and contribute directly to the European Union's Emerald Network of Areas of Special Conservation Interest.

The location in southern France includes diverse habitats supporting reptiles, birds, bats, mammals, amphibians, and various plant species. The work site includes important ecological zones like wetlands, forests, and mountainous regions.

The conservation work you'll do will support decision-making by local authorities. This gives you an authentic field experience to help you ignite or pursue your passion for conservation or ecology. 

But this journey isn't just about rugged exploration and conservation—it's also a celebration of French culture.

Your field experience will be based outside of Montpellier in southern France, 450 miles (720km) south of Paris. 

You’ll be in the Occitania administrative region which has a population of six million and borders Spain to the south-west and the Mediterranean Sea to the south-east. Other notable features include the cities of Toulouse and Montpelier, and Pont du Gard, an ancient Roman aqueduct and UNESCO World Heritage Site. 

The region is known for its rich biodiversity and varied ecosystems. You'll stay at a tented camp with access to diverse conservation sites. 

Transport to and from Paris will be by high-speed train (TGV).

Your experience will start and end in Paris.

The name itself whispers of romance, art, and timeless elegance. Imagine strolling along the Seine, the Eiffel Tower shimmering in the distance. Picture yourself savouring freshly baked croissants in a charming café, the aroma of rich coffee filling the air. Paris isn't just a city—it's an experience.

Explore world-class museums like the Louvre, home to masterpieces like the Mona Lisa that have captivated generations.
